this weekend is a big-ass Anime Convention at the Javits center - me and drow_dave will hopefully make it out there on Sunday xx crossed fingers xx. if anyone else wants to go, you can either park at my house and we'll go in together or you can meet us at Neutral Ground and we'll all take the shuttle bus to Javits. This saturday is another Salvation, so i hope i can get to that.
Best Cities To Walk: Washington DC and Philadelphia. I want to go to Philly anyway for the Mutter Museum and to hopefully meet IRL one of the finest ladies I have had the pleasure to meet in the Steampunk Online Community, madamekat. Maybe husbeast and I can co-ordinate our trip with an event? we'll see. I'm also planning to hit DC with ppl sometime soon, as a lot of ppl haven't been there since they were kiddies.

I drastically underestimated the amount of calories I brought with me to work today. Per my calorie calculator, my clementine had 35 calories, my banana 72, my yogurt had 110 calories, my small cup of 10 raspberries had 10, and my sliced cucumber sandwich on light wheat toast had 100. I didn't bring additional salads or nibblings with me today, so i supplemented plain brown rice (440 calories). So instead of 340 calories i am having 780. this leaves plenty of calories for dinner! also, my tea remains unsweetened and without soy.

Thank you to everyone who gave me their 2 cents on the Anti-Beef Rant.
Shopping yesterday was productive if painful - jcholewa got a kickass pair of jeans from Uniqlo and husbeast got himself a brand new beautiful wintery coat from Lucky Jeans (Click to see). orelalaith and drow_dave didn't pick anything up this time, but I have a feeling there will be another shopping trip soon - we all need jeans, and Uniqlo does free same-day alteration (not bad for a store that charges $49.99 for jeans). I totally forgot to take JC and Grace to American Apparel on Spring Street, but I have to stop forcing my androgyny on everyone else.
Hope everyone had a great weekend, have to go read the friends' page now.

hey ppl,
if you notice, i am calling myself a vegetarian and not a vegan. I do not want to eat products which result in the death of the animal (Thank You blackendstryfsh for telling me that mass-produced honey farms kill the hive! i now only buy organic honey). The exception to this is Fish Fridays, which have a funny story: my dad is an avid, addicted, hardcore fishing guy. He and my mom go fishing off of beaches and charter boats at least 3x a month. they catch a ton of fish straight from the ocean/stream/bay/etc. They can't eat it all, so they give it to husbeast and I, and my in-laws. I haven't bought fish at a market since the last time i made fresh shrimp scampi, which was in honor of hyprkid614 moving to CT.
I am also not quitting yogurt. the "problem" with this is that the main tenet of my vegetarianism is that I am avoiding beef products. Mass-produced farm beef is the devil and will kill us all eventually unless we stop destroying ourselves with it. I know, I know, I am going to get mail about that statement. Can't help it. it's true. Free-range, small-farm or wild beef that hasn't been pumped full of drugs or fed the waste products from the slaughter of its pen-mates is a viable option, but that's just unheard of here in America. so, what is a girl to do?
I would like to recommend plain sheep yogurt and plain goat yogurt. they are delicious. Ditto for sheep and goat milk. The brands I bought at both Trader Joe's and Whole Foods were free of growth hormones, thickeners and other crap, and weren't too sweet or watery. they only had 3g of sugar per container and a TON of active cultures. NOTE: One 4oz serving of Activia(TM) has 17g of sugar! For those not avoiding cow products, I recommend Greek Gods Traditional Yogurt. It's thick, delicious, and only comes in Plain or With Honey. OMG Honey flavor = NOMNOMNOM. either the goat yogurt or the Plain Greek Gods yogurt are phenomenal for tsatziki sauce and no draining is required. the sheep yogurt....well, it's a little different. it basically tastes like ricotta cheese but without the tiny curds. since I can eat ricotta cheese by the spoonful, i am pleased.
Today is a trip to Manhattan with my surrogate family. i am so enthused. If anyone wants to come by, either be at my house by 1pm or meet us in the city between 2 and 6. dinner (both veg and regular) will follow, as well as Trinity Blood.

First off, thank you to HusBeast for the adorable spidery post, and also the DragonFruit antioxident water and Ghirardelli raspberry square.
Second, i am going to be spending next week rewiring my gastrointestinal tract. I apologize in advance, but i need to get over this problem i have with green bell peppers and there's only one way to do it. otherwise i am never going to make it as a vegetarian. yesterday i was extremely good with my calorie count and my nutritional input - i knew it would only take a little time to adjust. i am pleased.=^^=
also, i am giving up my mass consumption of fish. I am reinstituting Fish On Friday as my one dose of protein in a week (no beef, no fowl, no pork). this may be just as hard as quitting cheese, as i have a Pavlovian response to the words "all you can eat sushi". i plan on substituting my sushi with oshinko salads - give me more sea cucumber and black seaweed FTW!!! Fo Ti - Should I Worry? I have been drinking one or two bags a day of Fo Ti as part of an effort to detox. unhealthy stuff stays in body fat forever. now, i have cholesterol concerns. apparently, everything can kill you, even healthy stuff.
This weekend i think there may be a Lust party, and I have to check my myspace for upcoming things. Trinity Blood viewing party maybe in the works? maybe? PPL?

oh, finally: inamirata, i need your expert advice. I just bought this sweater, in white from Old Navy. Here's the thing - online, it has no hood, but the one i bought has a hood! i am so happy. now, i want to rip off that lovely jumper i posted, the one with the bronze rosebud appliques. however, i have no idea how to apply little brass beads or brass rosebuds to this completed sweater without resorting to hot glue. can you give me sewing-into-knits tips or anything?

well, i am trying to get my diet back on track after that little incident with the Creeping Death (i feel better even though I still sound like Doctor Girlfriend). I am following Niqui's advice and drinking Bolthouse juice to keep nutrients in me. unfortunately, I polished off a bottle of Perfectly Protein Vanilla Shake in the car on the way to work (320 calories) and have another bottle of C-Boost halfway done (608 calories). That's 928 calories, 56 from fat, and at least 48g of sugars. basically for the rest of the day, I can eat some shreddy cabbage and water...oh, and today's recipe of the day, Clear Kelp Soup. apparently, not everything in the universe needs to have bonito stock in it. now, if only I could figure out where to get the appropriate kelp; when i ask for anything at the asian market, i get blank stares. i wonder why.

week three-ish of the diet: my skin looks awesome, my hair and nails are stronger, my innards are healthier and i was able to kick what could have been a very nasty flu with bed rest and wayyyy less nyQuil than I normally take. people say they can see the weight loss in my face and on my back (Thank God), but...I just need to excercise more. I think I will add Metamucil to my daily juice intake - it's never too early to worry about your heart. Clicking, btw, leads to a free sample because I am a free sample junkie.

I had the weirdest dream that I was at Pennsic and that I was camping with Kattrin and Jenna. It was a pretty awesome trip. Can't wait to actually go to Pennsic this year.
Contempt AND Salvation are this weekend AND i would like to go see The Golden Compass. Contempt Pass Click Here. For those who normally go with me, Contempt is FRIDAY this time. FRIDAY. i will be trying to map out the location l8r. Salvation is Saturday night (their myspace kind of sucks even if their party rocks), and both events are now 21+, which blows for some of my ppl, but...well, i'm sorry. soon you'll be all old and decrepit like me.

well, today i am dead. i am a zombie. i actually wrote a filk-song on the subway yesterday called "I've Got The Walking Pneumonia And The Drug-Resistant Flu" to an old rock song of similar title (i left out the "boogie woogie"). you know that if i am having this kind of fever-delirium then it is bad.

i am so looking forward to Thanksgiving, even though I need to make up time on my diet; this cold kicked my ass so thoroughly that i haven't been eating, except for the twice a day that I can cram some pasta, soup or eggs down my gullet. i broke my cheeselessness on Saturday night for four-cheese lasagna (which aside from a carrot was the entirety of what I ate). Sunday I had an egg on a waffle and half a box of pasta with onions, garlic and zucchini. i have been drinking water and tea all weekend but i still feel dry as hell. edit: i threw up my lo mein and eggdrop soup, so i guess food is just not happening.
Sam introduced me to Orange Chloraseptic a million years ago, and it is saving my life. i would really really like some Squash Soup, but you can't have everything.
Thanksgiving = Turk's. Also, I want to see The Golden Compass.
today's cheerfulness note: Jean Paul Gaultier's haute couture line is breathtaking. He is calling them the "Prince" line. I am so happy. i suppose everyone wants JPG to move in with them and design their clothing...

there may be more content, or not. i feel a little ornery today. it's the dreams. i have had a bunch of really bizarre dreams over the last few days - pleasant, but fostering a great sadness on waking. last night, i had a weird dream about the Addams family, again. Because I was "marrying into the family", I was taken in and treated like a long-lost cousin. I remember Wendesday Addams saying that her pet Tasmanian Devils were perfect little angels despite their tendencies to act like they've just been dealt a massive head wound (direct quote from Pugsley). I have also been desperately trying to hold onto the dream from two nights ago that involved a book on Ancient Egypt that transported me to a beautiful palace garden when I opened it. at one point in the dream, I wound up standing in the fountain with my tiered skirt floating around me. i am leaving out parts of this dream due to other confidential imagery (remember, when we dream about a person, it's not really them most of the time, but a representation of what they mean to us). then there was the weird dream on the beach. w/e, I think this is a manifestation of my desire for physical perfection after a year of feeding my id and getting fat.

...i crashed when i got home today. i couldn't get out of bed to go visit Husbeast and go to the Stamp Man on east 13th street (beest needed a custom stamp for work). i did not purchase bok choy. i did not excercise. in fact, dinner was a slice of sourdough bread and the rest of the head of broccoli i was saving for tomorrow's lunch, dipped in the leftover balsamic/garlic salt/chili powder mix from today's lunch.. now i am out of broccoli and in despair.
i know it is the cold weather. i KNOW it is the cold weather. i tried so hard to prep for it this year, but it looks like unless i do something drastic the stupid stupid stupid seasonal affected disorder is going to kick my ass yet again. the only thing that can cheer me up is a positive job interview tomorrow.
i am going to go sit under my blankets with my broccoli and try to start embroidering that satin. i found a beautiful rose pattern which I will give links to when I determine its viability. they are calling it a "tudor" cross-stitch and claim to have scored it from a documented Tudor-era dress. if i finish it i will post it here.

yesterday was fun. went to JoAnn fabrics, which was only rescued from Total Fail by the fact that I considered it "quality time" with homies. Btw, Brothers Grim looks Awesome!!!
today's freezing dampness is a diet-killer, and I had to restrain myself from stopping for buns on the way in to work. Luckily, I have this GIANT HONKING PILE of vegetables to keep me company. oh, and literally The Universe Has Lost Weight. Dammit, now i have no excuse. luckily my diet has been validated by Yahoo. take that, people who hate avocados!
Today's Recipe Of The Day: Bok Choy with garlic. Bok Choy is very much on sale at the Asian market by my house, and i have a ton of roasted garlic left. i will post the particulars tomorrow after I actually make some bok choy.

i have found a pattern for a lovely cross-stitch rose, which I will be stitching onto some satin as practice for the Cosplay Nightmare (plus, i get embroidered black satin oooooh). in case you're interested, here are some sites i recommend for tights and really bizarre hats. i mean, REALLY BIZARRE. the jewelry from Amanda Ralph is a true find - i saw their drawerhandle necklace in Androgyny and plan on ganking it and making my own from salvage. credit will be given. in keeping with the androgyny theme, here is Orthodox, a review of Comme Des Garcons and FabSugar.
job interview tomorrow and I have no idea what I am going to wear. fallback outfit is pearled-button 3/4 length sleeve black ribbed sweater with white tiered skirt, black pantyhose and sensible shoes. must remember to print resumee and remove unsightly goth nailpolish.
finally, I have a crush on Lydia Lunch.
